Thanks for reply so fast bro ok here i have mixer my mixer don`t have master volume. mixer only have cd 1 cd 2 and( truntable 1 and 2 the one i don`t use ) I only use cd1 input and cd 2 . and laptop i have virtual dj on my laptop also i have tracker 3 too so i keep my ep 4000 gain all the way up and mixer keep about 8 or 9 and laptop volume only 20 if i go volume more then 20 the cliping starts but my sound is louder but not realy louder so i know if i keep input very low it is not cliping but sound is not like party . I don`t know my speakers ar 4 ohm or 8 ohm but they are EAP 215D 1000 watts peak and 500 watts rms per channels but i think ep is 4 ohm 1400 per channel and in bridge mode is 4000 they say i think it should kill speaker before it clips but i don` think that is what i am geting out of it so any suggestion on that thanks guys i realy apreciate your help thanks gil 154

Welcome to the Forum, gill!

If you’re hitting the clip lights, you’ve maxed out the amp, it’s as simple as that. There are a couple of things you can do to buy a bit more headroom: Engage the low cut filters @ 50 Hz, and engage the limiters as well. Also, make sure you don’t have the amp in bridged mode by accident.

If memory serves, originally there was a misprint either in the manual or on the amp itself. On the rear of the amp it also tells you the dip switch settings. If they say something different to the manual, then you may have the switches in the wrong positions, so its worth double checking for this.

When I ran my EP4000, I followed the settings printed on the rear of the amp and checked the output with REW to ensure they were correct. If the manual and the amps printed instructions differ, follow the ones on the rear of the amp. If you have REW, then you can double check with that.

If you have the settings wrong, through no fault of your own, you may think you have the low end filter on when in fact you dont.

Thanks guys for all your time the problem is i think my expectation was much more from ep 4000 like i was thinking ep 4000 and two speakers 1000 watt peak and 500 rms per channels and it will shake the ground for me but i am new learning so now i am thinking buy one more ep 4000 and run one or two subs on it my problem will be done now all i do keep my laptop valume on 20 or 22 and my ep gain all the way up and mixer go slowely up just be safe lot`s of sound no cliping but if i push too much input in ep then it cliping so now i am thinking get one more amp and run sub on that i checked out ep 2500 and ep 4000 is only $50 diffrence so better one more ep 4000 and question is now do i need crossover too and can i run two small sub on one ep 4000 like 500 watt per channels or bridge it for one big 1200 watt sub witch options will be cheeper and better thanks guys learnning alot from you guys thanks gill 154.

Yes as I said it's exactly the problem I was having as well as having less then spectacular output. I helped by bumping up the signal voltage, it was all it needed. And as I say that's off (at the time) a brand new Denon AVR-888, so I'm just saying it might be the problem I have no idea what a computer/mixer combo would have for signal voltage. But it's happened to a few people and the Mic2200 has helped.

Well, less than expected output isn’t the same as driving the input into clipping (as indicated by the LEDs). I assume you weren’t able to get the LEDs into clipping in your case, which is why a signal booster in front of the amp made a difference.

I know it’s hard to decipher his writing, but the OP isn’t having problems with the input signal being too low. If that were the case, the clipping LEDs would never light up. He’s concerned that the clip LEDs light up too easily (in his opinion). That means his input signal is plenty strong enough.

If you can get the clip LED’s to light up, then you’re driving the amp to its maximum output. It's as simple as that. Basically it just looks like he needs a more powerful amp if he’s driving it to the max and it’s not delivering what he expects. Hope that makes sense. :D

Well I'm just saying what mine was doing which is exactly what the OP has wrote. Yes my Clip lights were coming on, the increased voltage on the input cured my problems.

Thanks guys i really appreciate that for your help i am still searching alot about this what i so far think is my speakers are 1000 watt`s peek and 500 wat`s rms made by Elminater audio product that what it says i email them what ohm is no answer for that i search on diffrent places on web i found few places EAP 215D is 4 ohms and also on one place i found EAP 215D is 8 ohms i realy don`t know what i have yet i think problem is speakers they are not may be very very good but i push up high and distortions and clip i just got crown xti 4000 last weak same thing cliping on that too when i push hard .Now i am thinking to buy subs searching on that so far i found yorkvill LS1208 they say 1200 WRMS i think 1200 watt`s rms what do you guys think i will buy one now and one later need to save some money i will put single sub on crown i think because i don`t need crosover with crown xti 4000 if i am not mistaken need help any good suggestion on buying subs will be really appreciated that thanks gill154.

Something can't be right? I would blow up my B+W's before my 4000 will clip. Are you running balanced or unbalanced cables? I would also think your mixer has enough voltage to drive those amps pretty hard. Also it is correct that the dip switches are labeled wrong at the switches. The silk screen on the back right hand side of the amp is correct.

Thanks bro yes i checked out the cables are unbalanced but i get these cables from same place i orderd my ep 4000 on line.I don`t even know that witch cables are the right cables.i thought the one they send they might know witch cables goes with ep 4000 ?thanksgill154

Thanks bro i search alot ok here mixer out put should be 0db to amp i think if mixer out put is more than 0db like higher goes in red that is bad so what i do now i close the volume from my amps to 0 and i set up my mixer out put to level to 0db and than i goes up on my amp and i goes higher until i see cliping and i keep volume little lower where it starts cliping. because my speakers are only 1000 peak and 500 rms per side but my amp is 1600 watts per channel so it is good thing i think when it clips and i control it from lowering volume from amp or i think my speaker will fry. i think you need to match the speakers watts with your amp or your speakers should be realy good quality it will reduce the cliping or no cliping may be at all.Still learning and i have one question is ep4000 can run on 8 ohms too.thanks gill 154.

Ok I think you should reduce the volume on the laptop to 50 then you can increase the volume from your power amp you will get a better sound. Thanks.
