Building Custom Subwoofers!!!!

i am thinking of building a custom subwoofer using a mmats pro audio 12" subwoofer. It is called the procast or p3.0...

It is dual 4 ohm voice coil. I am trying to sell them but not having any luck so i was thinking of building boxes for them.

i Don't know what i should use for amplifiers... Any suggestions would be great. 500watts and up can be handled by these beasts.. here are the specs.. If i sell these i'm looking at a sunfire sub or a klipsch rw-12d

P3.0 12

Voice Coil (Ohms) 2 x 4
Fs (Hz.) 26
Vas (Liters) 84.0
Qts . .18
SPL (1W/1M) 92db
Power (Wrms) 750

the sub will be front firing along with the port. i'll upload pics tomorrow or the next day..

Procast - I saw another post of yours and wanted to clarify something.

An EP2500/4000 won't overpower or damage your subs (unless you run it at excessive levels). It'll have power in reserve and handle peaks well - but you actually want to overbuy wattage - rather than underbuy.

You're more likely to have clipping and higher levels of distortion - if you buy a small amp, and then power speakers that have a higher wattage than the amp (and run the small amp at high gain).

A higher wattage amp just means you adjust the gain lower to get the desired output.

After much thought. I have decided to wrap the boxes in black naugahide. Just don't want to spend the money and time with paint.

Finally got all my equipment. Hopefull be hooked up this upcoming weekend... sub boxes should be finally finishd. Been waiting on the shop to order my material....have finished pictures soon

Single rca to a y adapter going to eq.2 then rca to 1/4 to amp.
Can you take a picture off how you have it connected.

I have two subs running in stereo from my EP4000 amp and wire mine like this.

Single rca from the sub output of the receiver (I use a subwoofer cable as I had two spare) going into input 1 off the EQ.2.

The a rca from output 1 off the EQ.2 into a 1/4 rca jack adapter into input 1 off the EP4000.

I run my EP4000 in parallel so that I am duplicating input 1 to input 2 so this way I only need to use one input off the EP4000. The gains on the front are still independant off each other so you can still adjust the levels according if you need to. It just means that the signal on both outputs is exactly the same.

My switches on the back off the EP4000 are as follows:

1 - Right
2 - Right
3 - Right
4 - Right
5 - Right
6 - Left
7 - Left
8 - Right
9 - Right
10 - Right

I used to have my gain on the EP4000 on max but now have it on 24db and the onkyo sub trim level on +7 so the input signal going in is stronger.

What receiver are you using?

It may well be that you will need to purchase a samson s converter to boost the signal but most receivers should have a strong enough input signal.

Let me know how you get on.

cheers

Graham, using a single rca to eq.2 with a y adapter. Then rca to 1/4" plug from eq2.ill put a pic up in a bit

Using a tx sr805 from onkyo
