Hi guys my screen is in a bay and the max size that I can go is 106" without having to blow out the bay and making it bigger.

Is it worth it , will I notice a difference in size between 94" and 106" . The cost of painting a new screen is really not much apart from the wall prep.

Thanks

I have an Epsom 8500 ub it"s 13 feet away from the screen . I know that the projector can handle 106" what I"m not sure of is if there is a visual impact between 94 diagonal and 106" is it worth doing such a small upgrade in size?

Thanks

Really, how about if I move up the projector to 10' feet would that help.

You feel that it won't have enough light power to do the job at 106" in Eco mode on theatre 1?

Actually I just remeasured it and it"s 14' feet away from the screen, moving it to 10' is just as simple as moving up the mount. Maybe I should start with that?

Thanks

I notice a difference between my 100" screen and my buddies' 106" screens. (All our viewing positions (seats) are ~15' from our respective screens.)

IMO, going from 94" to 106" @ ~13' would provide a significant visual impact. Since you say that the "cost of painting a new screen is really not much apart from the wall prep", I'd go with the upgrade.

Just my 2¢... :)

I would look at a seating distance calculator... find the max screen size recommended for my seating diastase and then install a screen as close to that size as possible (taking into account how much my space can accommodate). If you go too big without taking your seating into account, I think you'll be less satisfied.

Just MHO. ;)

Thanks people for the different ideas. I spend a little time with the screen calculator and I noticed that if I moved my projector closer to the screen from 14 to 11 feet , I would go from 14 fl to 20 fl . Well when I finished working today, that exactly what I did it only took about 1 hour and wow what a difference 3 feet make on brightness. Well worth the time.

My seating distance from the screen is 15' . My wish would be to do a 2:35 screen of 120" wide .My 8500 ub would have a hard time filling that screen so I'm going to settle for 106". My next upgrade should be for a Epson 5020 witch will be able to fill a larger screen.

I painted a sample board of the shirwin Williams pro classic white satin, the sample looks completely amazing. My room is completely light controlled with dark ceiling and dark walls. After all the amazing info found here in this forum I'm going to stick to the white screen, it really blows my mind how gorgeous the colours are and how the detail looks so crisp. My grey Da lite screen looks dull by comparison.
