So i pulled the trigger on 2 2omh 15's they just arrived today
very nice looking subs :)
was just curious if anyone has drawn up a plan for thiers yet and wanted to share or could help me design one,
I was looking for ported size isn't really an issue as long as i can move them through doorways and up stairs
as for an amp i haven't decided what route to go i know that'll have a big effect on the design i wanted to go with a PA setup but it might be a lot of hassle rather than going with 2 plate amps for simplicity
any suggestions would be appreciated

What are you looking for in your sub? How low do you want it to go?

You could tune anywhere from 22hz down to around 15hz. I personally like the 7cuft 18hz tune. But there are quite a few designs that others have come out with. Do you want a round port or a slot port or passive radiators?

What size room is this going into?

Is this mainly for movies or movies and music?

My simulations were just using 600 watts. So anything with 1200watts continuous would be good to start.

I used a 16hz Hpass on the 18hz tune. 2nd order. I believe the Bash amps have a hpass but dont recall what it is right now. I like the 1000watt Dayton myself but the price starts getting up there for a pair of them.

You could buy a external power amp such as the Inuke 3000 with DSP or other power amp for less money than a pair of plate amps. But that being said the plate amps are convenient because they are built into the subwoofer and quiet. DO you have a budget in mind for your amps?

My thoughts exactly. It depends on what you want in the end. If your equipment is out in the open and you could deal with a little fan noise (you may hear it on quiet passages in movies) then a PA amp offers the most power for your dollar. But on the flip side of that coin, plate amps are small and have no fan noise but do not offer the same power-to-dollar performance that the PA amps offer.

i initially liked the idea of a PA amp i was looking at the Inuke series i can get the 3000 dsp for 445
but some one was telling me on here that the HPF on those is no good? or they can't be set properly? i don't have any experience with them
and the local music places sell them but usually only for DJ's
has anyone set one up yet with a DIY sub?

When wanting to dial in a more precise EQ/Lt for your subwoofer an external EQ is significantly better at doing so. Internal EQ's are a starting point but nothing in comparison.

I used to like my 6 color pack of crayons but the 128 pack was nirvana. :D

Yeah I've had ported subs and never really have an issue either. I don't believe my friend is using any sort of high pass on his 12" HO's that are ported. These seem to have a lot of extra suspension travel beyond the xmax. I don't know maybe I'll get a MiniDSP board to do all that though, as the DSP's built into the pro amps seem to be rather limited for subsonics.
