So I am having these latency issues, and see the newest version has fixes that will help, but I don’t really need to update my OS for any other reason. Is there a Beta version prior to the current that will allow a good impulse measurement under Mac OS 10.6.8?
I have no idea what “step response” is, but you might want to check the info here to find out how to generate a waterfall graph that doesn’t look like um, a water tank.
Yes, I have been reading, and working with framing this up in a more reasonable way.
Step response is an aspect of impulse response. If a crossover is well designed, the step response will look like a nice sharp spike with a steady fall off. If the tweeter is out of time alignment, it will have a notch that returns to zero. I am evaluating a pair of speakers at the moment, and would love to get an accurate as possible look at this. However, the search function and the help PDF are not getting me exactly what I need. In general, the procedure seems to be to capture from one speaker at a range that avoids the first reflection off the floor. I know the FFT calculates this from the sweep, but my first go has a slope up to the spike, which should look more like a 90° angle. Don’t know if this is ambient room noise or what. Anyway, it looks like I need to upgrade my OS to get this feature to work correctly, so we shall see.
Here is a link to my data file. I seem to have less top and bottom end than I would have liked, which may be attributable to my amp/valves. At any rate, any comments appreciated.
