Re: Mach 5 18", 180lt, 500watts tuned to 20hz

I've been working heaps so not much spare time for building but manage to progress a little more, might even make an early Christmas present.

I've cut another piece for the front so now it has a triple front and the driver is now rebated, this was so I could attach the flush mounted front cover.

So then for the front cover I thought I would do something different and a bit decorative, So I cut a curved front rebated cover that i'm hoping should look good.

I got a price for a kitchen cabinet maker to do a high gloss 2 pac finish which will be less than $200aus so I think that will be the finish on the box when its all complete.

As for the amp im still using the Jaycar 240w and its sounds awsome, I will still wait till the box is complete and then I will order.

Cant wait till its all finished so I can enjoy.

Dave.

I manage some more progress. Fitted the front baffle and then the outside piece of the front cover.

Not long to go till

My birthday is comming up next week so I sent the Purchase order for the new amp to my wife via email but she didn't think it was an appropriate present. Wifes just don't understand

Anyway not long till its finished. Cheers

Dave.

Lucky my wife was at work because all the lattest work was completed on the new carpet, if she was there

I can no longer lift the box with all the hardware removed.

Re: Mach 5 18", 180lt, 500watts tuned to 20hz

Well as always I just couldn't help myself, I purchased the amp!

I will have a good crack at finishing the box ready for painting. The amp was only $308au which is a bargain if you look at the price of available Plate Amp's in Australia.

I will be getting a spl meter so I can post some Rew results.

Will the Eq on the Amp be all I need for equalising the sub?

Now I need to upgrade my reciever, does it ever stop

I'm so glad my wife is so understanding

Cheers

Dave.

REW will show you what is needed for equalization.

No. You are doomed. Accept your fate.

Having one of those is always a plus. I have one too. Life is good!

The O-Audio Amp is out of stock till late Jan, is there a similar amp that I can use for the same price?

Re: Mach 5 18", 180lt, 500watts tuned to 20hz

Sad day today with no chance of getting the new amp till late January ,

I was unaware they were out of stock until I purchased the amp which I think O-Audio should at least state this on there website before the purchase has been made to at least give the people the chance to make an informed decision on the purchase.

I will wait for the amp as its the best fit for the job and just prey that it comes sooner.

Sorry to hear of the delay. It will be worth the wait.

Re: Mach 5 18", 180lt, 500watts tuned to 20hz

A long wait it will be, thanks Mike. I will have most of the box finished by Monday ready for painting.

I still have the 240w amp connected as I didn't want to not have a sub to play with so until the new amp arrives I will still keep my original plate amp.

This should give me plenty of time to have the structual damage I have done to my house over the last 7 years repaired as the plaster that is connected to the wall that the stereo sits next to has come off the house battens and is banging quite badly.

Lucky my brother is a painter and decorator.

Dave.

Keep us updated on the cabinet finishing. I'm curious to see how the grill will look.
