![]() I've tested the UKBW and am forwarding them a sample of Bermuda Beige. The last three I'm in no hurry to accomplish. I've added a few things though. Someone pm'd me where tiddler stated that a behr 1850 reference gray mixed with 25% Minwax poly will give 'close' to the same results of BW. So I have some of that and the third coat is drying. I'm not expecting much as tiddler is the same individual who recommended the Dulux 'Veil' and then of course changed the brand of paint. He's also the same individual who stated that BW needed to be compared to a similar shade, that was done as well. Last I heard he's on a sheen kick over at AVS. If you ever head over there check each of his posts and see if they have been edited. I'd hazard a guess of over 50%. So yes I'm, playing Mythbuster on this one too. Anyone hazard a guess what will be next? I'm also working with some white paints I've found that piqued my curiosity. I have one panel drying and another to start on after the last coat for the first. Finally I'm also mythbusting the flat paint diatribe. I've tested Pittsburgh Paints flat Bermuda Beige with AAA and it came out neutral. And in my little sample I saw lots of Aluminum at the surface so I'm painting a panel of that as well. Had the weather not turned sour I think I would have been doing yard work! ![]() mech Got questions? Start a thread.

Might as well just use satin...![]() Numbers were neutral though. Again it's not cured but the initial numbers 190 189 188 0.314 0.331 51.2 76.8 -0.02 0.75 6408.6 I'll bet it will cure a bit tighter to neutral. But I doubt curing will do anything with all this sheen. Looking at this, I can definitely say that sheen plays a very small, if any, part in BW-AAA. And I can honestly say that a lot of folks have told me that sheen can be a bad thing - Bill, Smokey, etc. And this particular example will be a very good example of too much! It will also serve as an excellent opportunity to show hot spotting on a less than 100" screen. ![]() mech Got questions? Start a thread.

| Re: Next on my list... Who says flat paint doesn't work well with Black Widow? PPG flat 4:1 with AAA 192 192 193 0.311 0.328 53.7 78.3 -0.20 -0.67 6553.9 I'll get some photos later but the aluminum is clearly evident at the surface and at this point I see no reason why this would perform any differently than the flat enamel. I'll do some comparison photos to the behr reference gray in satin. ![]() mech Got questions? Start a thread. | |||

| Re: Next on my list... I'm thinking that I may actually get around to spraying this week. ![]() The two whites that I've tested have exhibited the same faults that all whites seem to exhibit - Red and Green numbers are the same and the Blue drops off 4 points or so. While one was the brightest white I've spectro'd so far it offered nothing new to the table. And since they're not readily available and more expensive than off the Shelf whites, I'm tabling that stuff for possible future use. I'll try to get the pics of 'tiddler's reference gray' done this week as well. After a bit of thought, I've removed my diatribe as it didn't pertain to anything of importance. It was just a bit of amazement how someone needs to come up with their own set of standards... constantly. ![]() Back to developing... it's what we do here at the Shack! mech Got questions?
