| Black Widow User! Has anyone heard of this?? Ive done some reading here and no i havent read every post yet but i did do a search and found nothing. I went into home depot cause they are the only ones that sell behr paint around here and i was looking for the bright whitle matte finish but they didnt have it. I told the guy why i wanted that paint and he said he had a Behr's rep custom paint mix for a screen. Supposedly they are calling it MS mud. Heres the mix. 1 qt flat 1050 $9.99 1qt flat 1300 $9.99 1 qt metallic silver $19.99 1 qt gold veil pearlescent $19.99 Should i go with this or have the henry shipped in for the black widow? | |||

| Re: Mississippi Mud custom behr mix for screen I haven't looked at the Black Widow thread in a couple days. So just to make sure we're on the same page, go to True Value and get a quart of Winter Mist in a flat. Mix that with 6.4 oz of the HE558. Is this for a wall or some other substrate? How big of a screen? mech mech Got questions? Start a thread. | |||

| Re: Mississippi Mud custom behr mix for screen this is for a brand new sheetrock wall that ive kept smooth. So far ive sprayed a two coats of a high quality primer on the wall and it looks great. I may have a couple little spots to spackle but thats it. The screen size is approx 11' wide not sure what diag would measure. I used 12' sheets of rock so i only have the one joint to deal with. I just tested the picture and it looks really good on just the primer. But again this is my first projector so i really have nothing to compare it to. Its the the BenQ W500 Ive already checked and our henry dealer will only get a 5 gallon pail if they ordered it for me. And its below zero here and not sure if someone down south is smart enough to not freeze the paint as its being shipped. Ive seen frozen solid semi truck loads of paint before......someone lost their on that deal!!! | |||

| Re: Mississippi Mud custom behr mix for screen Ok, just got my henry 558 today as it came ups in sub zero weather. I did find a note that it is freezable. I do not know if the "freezable" meant once applied it can freeze or if it meant on the shelf it can freeze. It seems ok even before mixing it up. I did send an email to the Home Improvement Super Store about the freezing thing and got no response from them. Even after ordering it I only got the auto respond emails. I cant wait to mix it up and paint the screen........but first i have trim work to do on the whole room.....dont want any saw dust on my pj so it will stay in the box till afterwards. Thanks guys!!! | |||

| Re: Mississippi Mud custom behr mix for screen Ok decided to paint now since everything was still out for painting the rest of the colors. Of course i had to break out the pj to see where to paint. Im not sure what you guys do but i did a 2" reveal on all sides of screen of extra screen paint. Might follow that with some black fabric later. Do you guys paint exactly the screen size or how do you go about it? Some shots of screen. Window treatments arnt here either yet so some screen shots will be later tonight. The second coat of BW started to show the alluminum reflections. ![]() ![]() flash only.....i think im too close will try more tonight ![]() ![]() ![]() | |||

| Re: Black Widow User! Did you add water to it? If not add 4oz of water to it and try another coat. It will give you time to get rid of any roller marks. Also, have a light shining on the scren are off to one side. That will help you to see the roller marks. When you're done applying go over it once more top to bottom with the roller. Apply no pressure and over lap each row an inch or two. If you have enough water and you do this, the roller marks should be gone! ![]() mech mech Got questions? Start a thread. | |||

| Re: Black Widow User! I did add the 4oz of water as you mentioned on these first two coats. It was drying extremely fast and in parts half of the rolled area was drying and the other wet. I did go over lightly as i was moving from left to right. Seems some of the paint was almost dry by the time i got to the other side. It could be the rollers im using (1/4" but didnt seem high quality even though the wraper said so) I just found some 3/16" roller covers at Lowes and will try that as soon as TV gets more of the base paint in. | |||

| | Re: Black Widow User! You shouldn't have to continuously stir it. One thing about this application is you can go back and fix areas unlike poly. It's a bit more forgiving in that sense. | Re: Black Widow User! You know what I think you may need to get it done right? A helper! You may need someone following behind you doing the 'back rolling' as you move along from one side to the other. That would probably do the trick! ![]() mech mech Got questions? Start a thread. | |||
