| System Requirements Hi. Can a 677Mhz Celeron with 512mb Ram running XP give accurate results or do I need more processing speed/power? It's an old Compaq that has a decent sound card, the Diamond Xtreme Sound - 7.1/24 bit Thanks in advance -Steve | |||

| Re: System Requirements I did a soundcard calibration file: I ran the soundcard output directly back into the Line in for L and R channels. This is the result, which doesn't look very good to me. Perhaps a bad sound card? I was hoping for a result similar to what's shown in the help file. Do you suppose REW can compensate for such fall off(s)? Any suggestions? | |||

It's only +/- 3dB. That's a very good soundcard response and can easily be compensated with REW soundcard cal file. Prove it by taking a measure of the loopback cable with the soundcard cal file loaded (no mic cal file) and you see a perfect flat line. brucek | ||||

| Re: System Requirements Don't sweat it. I did an amplifier calibration and was sure I had an awful amp. Until I realized the scale was only 4 db. When you zoom out to a 40dB scale, the amp looked perfectly fine ![]() Also, the new version of REW can use a loopback from the unused channel in your soundcard to auto-calibrate. No cal file needed. I think it's a great feature and can even out any non-linear problems with a soundcard (like maybe the calibration changing with input levels or something similar). | |||
