| Apogee Duet as an external Mac solution? Hello all. First off, many thanks to John for the great gift of REW and to the many knowledgeable users who post here and make this place the superb resource it is. I've finally just about got my home theater gear together and so am ready to start having fun fiddling and tweaking. As it happens, I already have one of these babies hooked up to my iMac doing duty as a DAC/Pre/Headamp and I was wondering whether it'd likely also serve as a MIDI interface with REW? Looking at the specs, it seems to satisfy the stated requirements, but the devil is always in the details. Obviously I could just give it a go, but I'd rather solicit some opinions before shelling out for the loooong run of balanced cable I'll need to go from my desktop to the listening positions. Any thoughts most welcome. PS: Can't resist preaching about the Duet generally. It's such a sweet little gadget if you're a Machead. The DAC kicks the behind of audiophile units at 2 to 3 times the price, it has a solid built-in headphone amp, being Firewire based it's self-powered and frees up your optical out and/or another precious USB port. If it'll handle EQ, too, I'll be in hog heaven. Thanks again. Andrew (but even my mother calls me Stretch) | |||

I see no reason why it wouldn't work just fine with REW for taking audio measurements using the line-out and line-in ports, assuming you have a calibrated microphone or SPL meter. For Midi connection you would use your Macs USB port (or just enter recommended filters by hand into your equalizer - if that's your intent here). brucek | ||||
