REW DBFS

Just wondering how accurate the DBFS output level is in REW. For example I have calibrated my system using AVIA on my HTPC with PowerDVD, to be at reference level 85db. When I use REW I set the output level at -20 DBFS, but the signal is 6db hotter then the calibration, and that is with only one speaker playing. So I have to lower the output to -26dbfs for 80db.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this before. I am using Vista and all volume sliders are at max.

Thanks

Re: REW DBFS

The dBFS setting on REW is exact, but what it means in output levels depends on what other gains and scalings are applied to the audio data on the way to your final output. What levels are the test signals on PowerDVD?

Re: REW DBFS

The volume sliders and gains are set at the same level. I have tested with Powerdvd 7.0 and Powerdvd 8.0.

Maybe there is something going on with powerdvd?

I was using Avia through powerdvd which is -20dbfs.
