Sub EQ'd

Here are a couple graphs showing my success Equalizing my sub. I have to thank BruceK for all his help getting me set up with REW. The more I work with this the more I learn. I applied 4 filters to help bring down the peaks at the low end. What a huge difference this has made. I now hear the lows much more clear. Prior to EQ'ing I heard the loudness and could feel the lows but I believed that the sound could be better and thank fully I was referred to this site to help take me to the next level. Obviously this is not quite the flat response that we see but it is a work in progress and well worth the time and effort. The better things become the more I want to improve them. Now to start learning about house curves, what a concept.

I have moved my sub to a couple different positions but I have found that the current placement is about as good as I could get given my room layout. I have my AVR crossover set at 50Hz. Should I be concerned about the null at 50Hz since my mains should be taking over here anyway? Should I try to reduce the null by EQ'ing?

The first jpeg is of Acual and Predicted, the second jpeg is after EQ'ing.

Why sub is crossed at 50 Hz (I have nothing against, just asking)? The nul at 50 Hz should not affect you a lot, but did you try changing the crossover frequency or moving the sub a little bit?

Everything can be done with an equaliser but it is the very last thing you should think about, because it eats headroom. It can be helpful if you have headroom to spare though.

Re: Sub EQ'd

Your EQ'd response is quite good. I would add the mains and take a measure and see how they integrate with the sub. Do the measurement the same as you did with the sub alone.
