| Tascam US-144 sound card calibration? Just finished hooking up and trying the soundcard calibration routine for the Tascam US-144 USB interface. Just want to check that these values seem to be correct and of proper quality. Sample rate: 48000Hz -3dB points: 2.6Hz, 22.983kHz Input device: TASCAM US-144 Input: No input selected Channel: Right Input volume: no control Input RMS target: -15.0dB Actual RMS at 1kHz: -35.6dB Output device: TASCAM US-144 Output: No output selected Sweep level: -15.0dB 20Hz .. 20kHz flatness: +0.0, -0.2dB Also, how do I interpret the impulse response graph to know whether it's good or not? Thanks!! | ||||

| Re: Tascam US-144 sound card calibration? The input level (-35dB at 1k) looks low. If you post a screenshot of the impulse response I'll point out what is good or bad about it. | ||||

| Re: Tascam US-144 sound card calibration? Here's a capture of the impulse tab. Also, I reran the cal and the numbers were basically the same, except that this time the 1kHz level says target = -15dB, and actual = -14.7dB. | ||||

| Re: Tascam US-144 sound card calibration? Level sounds fine on the rerun. On your impulse reponse, all looks fine. An ideal response would just be a single spike. Your response is very clean (noise floor about -110dB relative to the peak), with slight 2nd, 3rd and higher harmonic distortions (those are the small spikes ahead of the main spike). You are good to go. | ||||
