| using REW with a presonus firepod ok...very very very new too all this. I have a presonus firepod and a ECM8000 mic. I'm just trying to get a reading for my room. No eqs involved at all. Thing is, I have done all this reading on here and i still can't get anything to work. I'm 99% sure i'm not doing this right because I can't even calibrate the soundcard. has anyone used a firepod with this software and can they tell me what to do? thanks!! Corey | ||||

| Re: using REW with a presonus firepod Are you using the firepod with a Mac? There are problems on Macs with access for Java programs to the inputs of USB-connected soundcards which may also affect FireWire-connected card inputs - USB got a mention as being fixed in 10.5 but I don't recall any comment about FireWire. If you have a device with a line signal (e.g. an SPL meter) or a preamp for your ECM8000 try connecting it to the Mac's built-in audio input and see if that works, or try going through the soundcard cal using the built-in input and output. | ||||

| Re: using REW with a presonus firepod its a pc. Also, i don't have a preamp for the mic because the firepod is in itself a preamp. I also don't have an spl meter with a line out Hence why I got the mic in the first place :Pand what is the soundcard cal? thanks! Last edited by tamerax; 05-19-08 at 07:10 PM.. | Re: using REW with a presonus firepod http://tamerax.com/temp/screen.JPG so, i went behind the unit and put 2 rca's into the line 1 and 2 inputs to the line 1 and 2 outputs (not the master outputs nor the main front inputs). I got something out of it but it won't save as a cal file. keeps saying its missing something. I'll write down the error next time. Now I have NO idea if it worked at all. Not much is showing up in any of the reports. | ||||

| Re: using REW with a presonus firepod Try setting to 48KHz. REW is seeing the card, but are you able to select a specific input and output (line 1 out for example) instead of Defaults. I know that system has multiple inputs and outputs. If you are trying to do a soundcard calibration routine, you must have the Use Left Channel as Calibrate Reference unchecked and leave it unchecked. You want to only connect a single line-out to single line-in and run the routine to obtain a cal file. Then that short is removed and you use that same channel for measuring (while the cal file compensates). brucek | ||||
