| Strange soundcard calibration curve......(not a loopback though) ![]() This is the soundcard calibration curve I keep getting...trust me, I've tried EVERYTHING, (monitoring disabled, all settings at 1.000 and -12 sweep, line in muted, etc...) Looks suspiciously like some sort of EQ interference, but everything is disabled. Has anyone seen a response curve like this for your soundcard???? I'm using windows xp with a sounblaster live 24bit usb external.. I'm not using any .cal files in the process. It also says my headroom is way too low, even when I crank things up. I'm quite confident I have everyting set correctly, but I guess I'm missing something ![]() We're talking almost 30db of variance!!!!! | ||||

| Re: Strange soundcard calibration curve......(not a loopback though) Something is turned on. An effect such as a rock equalizer setting, etc. Go to the soundcards application and find the thing that is turned on.... I assure you, something is turned on. brucek | ||||

| Re: Strange soundcard calibration curve......(not a loopback though) Looks like a plot of the noise floor of a device running noise shaping, which would tie up with the warning from REW that the levels are too low. Is the SB Live! set as the default device? Have you selected it as the input device in REW? If device selections are OK then probably a cabling problem. | ||||

| Re: Strange soundcard calibration curve......(not a loopback though) thanks for the replies....still no luck on finding any eq's that might be on. sb is the default device..also tried changing both i/o cables but have the same results. oh well, gonna keep trying to find things. | ||||

I had a problem too ... I got the exact same response in different places, and what happened is that I installed a program in the computer and that changed the settings of the sound card ![]() Good luck. | |||||

| Re: Strange soundcard calibration curve......(not a loopback though) Best make sure you are getting an output by connecting the output to your system. Make sure the "digital output only" selection hasn't been turned on. | ||||

| Re: Strange soundcard calibration curve......(not a loopback though) It's some setting or connection you have. I got the EXACT same thing with my Auzentech X-Meridian sound card. I'm very sorry that I don't remember how though ![]() But at least I can assure you it's some setting. -Brian | ||||

| Re: Strange soundcard calibration curve......(not a loopback though) I discovered what it was and I feel completely ridiculous. Ya know the whole 'red is right/left is white' thing? Well, for some reason I forgot that little phrase for the first time in my life. I was looping through the 'white' side i.e. LEFT - DUH.....when I told the program so politely I would be using the right side. I'm now using the right side of the cables and it works fine. Thanks a million for all the suggestions guys!!!!! This is a great forum!! | ||||
