corrections for M-Audio and not enought SPL from REW

Hi all, I am new here and I just finally set up my M-Audio MobilePre, ECM-8000 and REW for the first time and I have a few questions. Does anyone have a file for the FR corrections for the M-Audio MobilePre USB sound card? Also, I don't seem to have enough SPL. Meaning, when I try to do a max SPL test, I only hit about 90db and my reciever is at +1 or so.

Thanks for your time,
WMD

You should create that yourself with your own soundcard. I understand that the M-Audio is a bit different than most as you're using the internal pre-amp and phantom power from the M-Audio device itself - so you're plugging the ECM mic directly into the XLR input and using the 1/8" stereo line-out. This means your loopback setup would have to be using the 1/4" connections to get a soundcard cal file.

Don't really understand the question. The number your reciever is at has little significance with REW. Are you saying you're going through the REW setup and calibrating for some high SPL value?

Huh?

Here's how I hooked it up and I got a FR graph, but for some odd reason, I can't save it as a "Soundcard Measurement Cal File". Any ideas?

The problem is REW's peak/clipping lights are blinking when I take my subs any louder then 90db. My point with the receiver's MV at +2 or so is saying I can't turn it up much louder. My subs are capable of 118db+ and limited to 90db sucks

To measure the soundcard use the "Measure soundcard response..." entry in the Soundcard menu.

When you say the clipping lights are showing I guess you mean the input level is clipping? If so, you need to turn down the gain on your mic amp, you are overloading the soundcard input with the current setting.

I don't feel you should be using line-out to mic-in for the loopback.

You need line-out to line-in for the soundcard loopback setup (and that's only available with the 1/4" connections)...

Re: corrections for M-Audio and not enought SPL from REW

Thanks for all your help guys. I bought my mic and sound card 6 months ago but never got around to using them. When I ordered the new SVS 12.3 drivers, I decided to get off my lazy a$$ and learn REW. I did some FR measurements and come to find out I have more bass problems out of the sub rang Looks like I am going to have to look at room treatments and bass traps. It also seems that the new drivers have about 2db higher sensitivity.

Hey azjimmy, you're from the spot right? Yea, it's been a while.
