| Having trouble getting started Have installed REW and Trutle Beach SRM. Yesterday I could get an output in the settings>soundcard but today not happening. The Mixer control doesn't seem to give an output. The SRM is working in the XP Device Driver. I have the Output Device set to Default Device and the input set to Default Device. I'm a senior citizen so a little fuzzy with technology. Thanks for any help ![]() | ||||

| Re: Having trouble getting started OK good. Be sure to complete the soundcard calibration and load the meter or microphone calibration file. (I'll just delete the other thread then). brucek | ||||

| Re: Having trouble getting started Post some pictures as you go along by clicking the button by the graphs that says "save graph as jpeg image" (with the correct measurments [15-200Hz, 45-105db scale]) that way as you go along, people can help tell you if your doing things correctly and even how you might improve your measurements further. And as I've just said in another thread, don't get too caught up in getting a ruler flat line, consider all the necessary comprimises, position and eq your sub and mains for their best comprimised postions, then just enjoy the results, as I'm almost certain you will! ![]() -Brian | ||||

| Re: Having trouble getting started Brian, here is what I've got so far The first is speakers and sub. I have a Bagend Infra 18 and SoundLab A-1's. Graph doesn't look to good. Next This speakers to 1Khz. ugh!!!Last is sub only . I'm a total Audiophile. I do have three Dynastats for surround. Anybody have any comments?Mougalman | ||||

| Re: Having trouble getting started I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant for your graphs to go from 15 to 200Hz, not just your measurments. There is a button in REW in the upper right where you can set graph scaling. Click on it and manually type in the numbers: ------105db------ 15Hz--------200Hz ------45db------- After you do that, you'll notice your graphs look a LOT better too ![]() -Brian EDIT: Also, there is a button from one of the drop down menus from the top of REW where you can select "1/3 octave smoothing". Enable that and your graphs will look much better still! ![]() | ||||

| Re: Having trouble getting started How are you doing the bass management between the Bagend and the Soundlabs? That drop off at 30Hz on the Bagend looks pretty strange. | ||||

I wonder if you would measure the Bagend by itself with no mains. Be sure your receiver is in stereo mode (no soundfields, eq, etc) and has its crossover selected and the mains are off. brucek | |||||

| Re: Having trouble getting started I would first work on positioning of the subwoofer first, you have a pretty big dip there and that much eq would be a bad thing. Also try different listening positions. What I personally did was set the subwoofer in my chair, and set the RadioShack SPL meter in different corners of the room to find the best response, then moved it along the walls to smooth it out. Finally I swapped my subwoofer for where my SPL meter got the best response and tweaked a little bit from there. I personally don't have an eq, but I had complete control of room setup of the listening position and the subwoofer. I beleive I've acheived incredible results with just that, and haven't yet got the itch to purchase a BFD. -Brian | ||||

| Re: Having trouble getting started Brian, the first graph is with sub only. I have no processor. I run the outputs of the preamp(5.1) analog to the Bagend and as they suggest, the Bagend does the crossover and the outputs to the Power Amp. Bagend says the cross over is around 90Hz, although it's not clear in their literature. OK I understand the sub in your listening position and moving around with the SPL meter to get the flatest response. Thanks for your reply Mougalman | ||||
