java error in macosx.4.11: REW crash

Hello,
Many threads allready on using the mac and motu.
Using the audioprefs in the mac for my motu.
Settings in REW are default and 44.1.
I get output but no input with the mic attached properly.

Trying the Cor audio setting makes REW crash:

You'll need to switch to OS version 10.5 from 10.4

The version 10.5 allows REW and other Java applications to access the inputs of an external sound card (when set as the default in the sound preferences), but in 10.4, while the outputs of external sound cards can be accessed, the inputs cannot.

Not ready to change to 10.5 yet.
But maybe in the future.
