So I'm Dumb...

Alright, I searched the forum and read the help me but I can't seem to figure it out, I hate being dumb.

I have a laptop that only has the bare bones of audio inputs/outputs. ie mic and headphone 1/8" jacks. Can I use these with an adapter to hook up my RS SPL meter? Also can I use these to hook up to my receiver to output the freq sweeps. If not is it okay to use another disc for my freq sweeps? If so do you just run REW and the freq sweeps off the disc and it takes care of itself?

If that won't work what kind of sound card do I need for a laptop, cheap always helps.


Sorry for all the dumb questions, but at least I really did try to search. I may have even read the answer and was too ignorant to get it.

No, you need to purchase an external USB soundcard. They're quite inexpensive.

Many people here use the Creative Soundblaster MP3+ USB Sound Card.

Do a forum search on "external soundcard" to get a feel for what people are saying on the subject...
