| What Channels Does It Do? Will he REW do just the Sub and Mains? Will it do all in a 7.1 system? In not how do I EQ my whole system? I have an Integra 7.7 and am not happy with the EQ that is built in. It sounds good but the sub is way off. I am unable to adjust the sub EQ when it does it in auto mode. If I switch it to manual mode I lose all my settings and am unable to just drop what the numbers that the auto mode did. There are channels in the auto mode that are not in the manual mode. So I'm stuck EQing the whole thing. ![]() | ||||

When using REW, all soundfields, effects and multichannel must be turned off. Your receiver should be in stereo mode, and so the signal will only be directed to a sub and a main. There's no reason you can't move your speaker cables around to make any speaker you wish connected as the main though. Most people use the auto EQ systems to set up their system overall, then add a BFD or similar equalizer to the sub. brucek

| Re: What Channels Does It Do? Your Integra probably has an Audyssey system. Every time I have heard one of those, it sets the sub way too low. I have carefully balanced all the channels, run the setup, and had it cut output by 7dB! I know I might be off, but not by 7dB. You may be able to null out the changes it made to your bass setup manually (zero the EQ settings, etc)., then set up the sub yourself after the mains have been balanced. Keep track of the distance setting for the sub though, as this is usually pretty accurate. As to EQ'ing a 7 channel system, some preamps and receivers have a direct mapping feature where you can send an input signal to one or more speakers -- I've only seen this in high end stuff though. Then you can run the sweeps one channel at a time. I have a separates system and I can run directly into the amp channels one at a time -- although that was just for information; I don't EQ the mains or surrounds. Good luck. | ||||

| Re: What Channels Does It Do? Quick question: What about using the "Y" cable to send the signal to L+R, and instead of using just the "Stereo" mode he uses the "All channels Stereo" mode??? ... that way all speakers will sound and he can measure the response for all channels ![]() Devicente: What you can do after the autocalibration is verify that all settings are correct (distance, size of speakers, crossover, etc.) and finally measure with the SPL meter the output you're getting from all speakers ... maybe you'll have to adjust the level for some if you're not getting the base 75db ... ![]() | ||||

| Re: What Channels Does It Do? Be aware though, that the levels can 'fool' yu a little. I've seen audyssey adjust trim, then compensate with EQ, so the overall level is the same, only flatter. Maybe your trim measured with your SPL meter measure a room node or other peak, and thus measure high? Maybe Audyssey flattened your response and you are now seeing the true level of that channel? Just a thought. | ||||

Alternatively, you could use your 7.7 as a preamp, output any channel that needs EQ into an external EQ like a Behringer DEQ2496, and then send to a power amp. The DEQ2496 can do 2-ch so you may need multiple units.
