Finally have REW working/ 1st graphs

First off let me say that this is a great program and the fact that it is free is awesome! Thanks John!
Here is my first couple of graphs taken at the main 2 listening positions. I have a few more listening positions to graph soon (it's a living room HT) but I hope they turn out close to the same because I think these aren't too shabby! What about EQ? Do you think it's needed?

Re: Finally have REW working/ 1st graphs

I thought so too. I really hope my other positions have response that is just as good. . I guess I should get a few measurements with my mains thrown in to see what the crossover region looks like as well. I think that some of the chaff above 100hz may be spurious environmental noises. I believe that the 58db spike at 180hz is my CE4000 fan noise. I've yet to do the fan mod. My noise floor is not the best because it is very hard to get anything resembling quiet around here.

It is a great program. There is a way for you to express your appreciation in a more substative way. Doing so will help continue the program's maintenance.

I encourage you to use this method to express your appreciation.

Doug

Re: Finally have REW working/ 1st graphs

I have a few questions regarding REW use. The first is this...Is there a way to sum 2 responses together, like a close mic'd driver measurement and then a close mic'd port response measurement? Maybe using the Averages tab would work?

Question 2. I haven't see many taking distortion, or spectral decay measurements. What is the best way to go about these? Close mic'd? subwoofer or speaker pulled away from the walls, etc?

No, but you can average any number of responses you wish.

Measure at your listening position is best for all types of plots unless you're attempting a near-field of the driver only.

You can also measure from your port besides doing a near-field of the driver if the mic will fit.

Is that from the RE XXX? Or the Dual SDX? Or Both?

Re: Finally have REW working/ 1st graphs

This is the XXX system. I'll be getting to the SDX's soon.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I'll try taking a close mic of the powerport and driver and then averaging them. I don't think this is going to be the same as the complex sum of the 2 though. I'm trying to better determine exactly what the powerport is contributing to the response of the overall system and I actually want to eliminate as much of the rooms contribution as possible from that measurement. I did take some power response measurements that I will post later.
