| BFD or DEQ 2496 I am planning on using REW for use with either BFD or DEQ 2496. I am also (somtime soon) going to build new speakers. So I noticed that the DEQ 2496has an RTA function inbuilt along with phantom power for a mic such as Behringer ECM 8000. Now the question is, since i have not purchased any of this hardware yet. which combination would be the most handy for a duel purpose of room correction and speaker design. Is the RTA in the DEQ a better tool for speaker design than REW? or am i wasting my money when REW + BFD can do the same thing. ![]() | ||||

I don't see the advantage of the RTA in the DEQ, since REW already has an RTA. brucek | |||||

| Re: BFD or DEQ 2496 Plus, REW's RTA has 1/24-octave resoluution, while the DEQ's is only 1/6-octave. To be honest that's probably sufficient for most applications, but there's no sense paying an extra $200 for it when REW is free. Since you're going to be building some speakers, we usually recommend using the Behringer ECM8000 mic along with the Xenyz 802 mini-mixer as a cost effective way to move up from subwoofer measurement to full-range. But if you don't have a sound card yet, you might want to consider the option of a combination sound card/mic preamp instead. It'll cost a bit more, but it'll simplify connections. Here are a few of the more economical ones from ZZ sounds: The requirements for any sound card/mic pre combo under consideration would be USB, phantom power, and analog outputs. Of course, eBaying any of the things needed for REW - mic, mixer, sound card or combo unit - is a good option. Most of this gear is used in home studios, and as such is subjected to no abuse. | Re: BFD or DEQ 2496 Thanks heaps guys.! This is just the sort of feedback i was after. Wayne I'm very interested in that first M audio preamp/sound card combo. If I had one of these then all i need is the ECM 8000 which is relativly inexpensive. I already have an SPL meter equivalent to the galaxie CM 130. Do you know if that first product is Vista compatable? | ||||

| Re: BFD or DEQ 2496 Hi Jason, I haven't personally used any of them. I just Googled "usb mixer" to find some examples for your post. Regards, Wayne | ||||
