One question for the REW setting. If I want to know the SPL and Impusel of my headphone system with a UMIK-1 MIC. The noise of my room is 40dB in low frequency and 20dB in high frequency. What level should I adjust in when I do the measurement?
85 dB is a pretty good point for headphone measurements. Then measurement error at low frequencies is only around 1/2 of a %
(40 dB - 85 dB = -45 dB, x 0.005 (roughly)).
Real life strikes again. My own approach is make critical measurements at night, turn off the refrigerator, turn off the AC/furnace, turn off flourescent lights that buzz, replace all noisy pc fans and power supplies with super-quiet ones, take measurements of acoustical and electrical noise floors to maximize SNR.
A 105 dB measurement with headphones will very likely yield high distortion and not be representative of typical listening performance.
Phase response measurements are tough to do much with, except see that they match closely between L and R transducers (they should match closely).
Hi im new to this, the whole concept of room set ups and all, is there a way to Calibrate my Headphones?,....plz help
