the same old basic help!

well i finally got a laptop and room eq downloaded so can someone step me throught the basic's to get me up and running?
id like to calibrate radio shack spl meter,test my system,upload graphs to you guys(to see how bad it is)and i dont even know what order to start.
i dont yet have the external sound card but im about to order the soundblaster live,id just like to get all the software parameters setup while i wait on card to come in.

Just wait and get the sound card. The set-up will go pretty quick once you get one. In the mean time keep read the help files over and over. Read some posts of people with similar test equipment. A lot of answers may already be answered.

If your laptop has a line in you don't need an external card.

Will the soundblaster X-fi 5.1 surround external sound card work?(model #)sb1090?
I can find this locally but no one carries the sound blaster live.
