RS digital correction values above 160 hz?

Hello
I'm new to this forum and REW but not new to digital audio....

I came here originally for rs digital meter correction values; the ones I saw on the download page only go up to about 160 hz or so.... are their files, values for correction values in the 200-20khz range for the rs digital meter? If so where please?

Also is REW only/primarily for optimizing sub info? If it can do full range info, how does it do it without the correction values above 200 hz?

And finally, are these "corrected" values for using the meter through an RCA jack, or reading the meter by hand, or both? Which values are which? Sorry to ask so many newbieish questions

Above 160Hz we found that the RS meters are fairly accurate up to about 5kHz, so we allow the standard C-weight curve built into Room EQ Wizard software to take over. Above 5Khz, the RS meters are simply not accurate and likely shouldn't be used. A better mic like the ECM8000 would be better for full range.

REW is full range. Wherever calibration file information isn't provided, REW substitues the standard C-Weight curve. A better mic is neccessary to do full range.

Through the jack into a soundcard and REW software. There is debate whether the newer meters and jack are exactly the same. The cal files we provide on this site are provided for both meter and jack, but there has been some debate. I believe there is complete agreement that the older analog meter to be a match between meter and jack.

ok thanks...also what is the upshot on the c weighting on this meter? has that been resolved?
Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

The RS meters provide a C-weight switch that purports to measure with a standard C-Weight specification.

All three RS meters vary from this standard somewhat - the older one moreso. If they did not, the standard C-Weight inversly added to REW results would produce a perfectly flat response.

To make up for the inaccuracy, a calibration file is used with each meter......

What was your question?

Re: RS digital correction values above 160 hz?

The question was, in the help it says "An SPL meter with a line level analogue output. The Radio Shack meter is perfectly adequate for low frequency room acoustics work, either the analogue or digital display version (note that there are some reports that the digital display version of the RS meter does not require C weighting compensation for its line output, but other reports that it does. The schematics of the meter (at least one version of it) show that the C weighting compensation should be required. The weighting network is definitely applied to the line output of the RS analogue meter so C Weighting Compensation should be applied."

It doesn't say "Just turn on C weighting in the meter and be happy" it seems vague as to whether the line out uses the weighting... So has the vagueness been resolved?

After using it on my sub it looks like I have sever dips (-12db+) at 30, 70 and 90 hz... what would be good strategies to deal with this? Also its reporting -6db bw say 500 and 3000 hz.....

Also is it possible to just export the graph as a gif somehow to post on board?
Thanks for any info!

I'll be specific.

Turn on the C-weighting of any RS meter and use the line out with the calibration files supplied here. You'll be happy.

Best to post the graphs and we can comment better....

Don't really understand what this means?

REW has a GRAPH pull down and a "save as jpeg" command.

See the two stickies on posting graphs at the top of the BFD | REW forum....

Re: RS digital correction values above 160 hz?

Hi.. back to the digital meter questions, should I use Slow or Fast response time on my meter and do I need to set anything in the program to correspond with that?
Thanks,SD

Slow on the RS meter.

Very Slow on REW SPL meter for sub measurements.
