Hi please can someone tell me the benefits of using ASIO, other than it is easier to measure multiple channels

Thank you

ASIO bypasses all of the layers of audio-handling code that exist in different parts of the operating system (Windows) so that a more direct audio path exists, yielding low latency, important mainly in audio recording and mixing. I have herd, although I am not sure about this, that better (closer to) bit-perfect accuracy can be another benefit.

ASIO4ALL is a generic version of ASIO which makes it possible to have multiple devices accessible via a single driver interface, a capability not normally available with most sound card drivers.

Re: ASIO benefits?

Hi Wayne thank you

Do you know if ASIO drivers would be able to be used with a XTZ Pro 11 Mic?

Thanks again

The XTZ Pro II Mic uses generic Windows drivers, so it works fine with ASIO.

I believe he asked:

Is the calibration for the XTZ mic 90 degree of 0 degree?

Re: ASIO benefits?

90 degrees. So it can be used for a DRC or Dirac Live surround calibration.

Sorry about messing up your post.

Re: ASIO benefits?

Hi Wayne no worries

Matter of interest do you have this mic?

If so do you miss it only being calibrated down to 20-20khz?

Does Dirac normally have a 90 degrees orientation?

Is it possible to calibrate the SPL with this mic?

Thank you for your time

My main mic is the BeyerDnamic MM-1. It comes with 0 degree calibration down to 60 Hz. I have extended the clibrationt down to 20 Hz using a calibrated UMIK-1 for reference. In general, being more interested in 2-channel / music listening, that is plenty low for me. Even looking at freuqencies lower than that, I am mainly looking for smoothness, so I am not too concerned over lower frequency accuracy.

Yes, any room correction app will use a 90 degree orientation mic.

Yes, as discussed in your other thread.
