Question Spatial Averaging with REW ?

I am using a UMIK-1 mic in conjunction with REW. Is there a way to connect 4 umik-1 mics via a cost effective multiplexor for real time spacial averaging ? Most multiplexors are XLR based and have a rotary switch that allows individual or all mics selection.

If you’re talking about the ability to use all mics simultaneously, I doubt such a USB device exists.

Wayne

Thanks Wayne, it would far too time consuming to use 1 mic in 4 positions and average the readings. XLR based multiplexors do exist but they're like $1,500 and are designed to work with XLR mics.

If you can connect 4 UMIKs to your computer and REW can see them, maybe you could write few lines of script to automate UMIK selection with Autoit or similar software.

Here's a useful thread to read.

The "moving mic technique" should give you similar results ( to the multiplexed multiple mics that you are wishing for ) .
