Asking for Help - Calibration loopback - Xenys502USB

Hello guys,

I've been leaning a lot with DIY stuffs and due to that I started a journey to improve my subwoofers as you can see on the post below.

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwo...ml#post5098724

Now the cabs are ready and I'd like to perform proper measurements related to the frequency response but also use REW to support the alignment thru Phase response. To do this job looks like the REW is a very good tool but I need some help to calibrate the system and initiate the new learn phase of my journey.

I've been reading some threads and also watching tons of videos at youtube, but I din't found one that clear indicate how to connect the system for loopback, at list they were using different hardwares.

Hardware available:
  • Mixer Behringer Xenyx Q502USB
  • Mixer Behringer Xenyx QX1202USB
  • Flat response Microphone dbx RTA-M
  • Notebook Acer Aspire E1-571-6854
  • Complete audio rack
  • Cables/ Adapters
Is this connection schema correct for loopback?

Is this connection right to measure the cabs?

Re: Asking for Help - Calibration loopback - Xenys502USB

The loopback function is accomplished by running common audio cables between the sound card’s analog input and output (in your case, the Behringer). It can’t be done via USB as you’ve shown. The feature was designed to create a correction file for cheap external soundcards that don’t have flat response. It won’t be necessary for either of your Behringers, as devices of this type typically have flat response out of the box (at least as long at the per-channel EQ knobs are set straight up).

As the other thread you’ve posted in indicates, you should be able to use one of your Behringers via a USB connection only. If not, you may be able to take the Behri’s output to your computer’s input instead, although there’s no way to determine of the input has flat frequency response or not, and the connection will require a special cable (3.5 mm to dual 1/4" plugs).

However, as this post indicates, REW works best with a simple audio interface, not a complicated one like you have. If the Behringer doesn’t work, you’ll have to use one of the interfaces recommended in the REW Soundcard Database thread. People often run into problems and frustration with REW when they try to use whatever they have around the house instead of simply acquiring the recommended hardware going in.

Regards,
Wayne

Re: Asking for Help - Calibration loopback - Xenys502USB

Hi Wayne, thansk to try to help me, in fact i made it work.

When using ASIO drive I just need to setup INPUT and OUTPUT as being the same channel, like Channel 1, and the loopback as being the channel 2, doing in this way it works fine.
