| Channel level calibration RS or REW?? I was playing around with some settings on my system last night and realised that I didn't calibrate the channel levels/delay times in the DVD-A/SACD player.
I ran a calibration using the receivers internal tones, followed by the DVD players internal tones played through the ext in on the denon receiver, I got different results for both methods, (up to 2db difference on some channels). I then ran the tones from the THX optimizer and got another set of different results, although these were very close to the settings I got using the receiver's internal tones.
The pink noise signal from the DVD player sounds very different to the pink noise from the receiver, its almost like the receiver is band limited in the low end and the DVD player is not, which would make the signal from the DVD more likely to be affected by room resonances.
Tonight I will run a sweep of all full range channels using REW and the ECM8000 connected through the external 8ch input, and overlay the results to get the same average levels, so any peaks will not affect the overall level of that channel. It will be interesting to compare the results achieved with this method to the others.
I will post my results tomorrow.
