Severe error loading REW - please help.

Hello all.

I have just DL'd a copy of REW, installed all the Java updates, installed REW but cannot load the thing.

Each time I try, I am greeted with:

I am using Windows 2000 (its not a problem, is it?), SP4 etc.

I am sorry to take up your time with this, but as a musician, I dont know much about computer problems. I just want to get a nice sounding control room!

I believe you need to install Sun Java Runtime app...

* REW requires V5.0 or later of Sun's Java Runtime Environment, available from http://www.java.com or http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html for Windows and Linux platforms. Update 10 or later is highly recommended "

i have already installed Java, as stated above. Unless you are referring to something OTHER than the standard Java program. ill have another look tho...

Are you running a non-standard Windows 2000 Theme? Non-standard themes can cause exceptions in Java user interface code, cure for that is to switch back to a standard windows theme.

just the standard Windows theme. no frills no spills

Bit stumped then, I'm afraid. Don't come across Windows 2000 much, so there may be an issue under Windows 2000.
