| Need some handholding Sorry about this gang, but I just cant get out of the gate with what is likely has an obvious answer. Pouring over the hookup drawing(s) from the sound card to the RS meter. Explanation states the meter sends a mono signal. At the meters jack, do I use RCA, Stereo, or Mono plug? Or does it matter? | ||||

| Re: Need some handholding It wont matter as REW only uses one channel use RCA to 1/8 stereo plug adapter and use the Left channel and your good to go. Home theater: Onkyo TXSR805, Samson Servo 4120 4 ch amp bridged @240wattsX2 Two Channel system: Yamaha RXV995, Mission 764i's, Yamaha YST FSW100 sub My Webpage Last edited by tonyvdb; 10-01-09 at 06:07 PM.. | ||||

The SPL meter has an RCA mono output, so that connector must be a RCA mono plug that connects at the other end to a splitter at the soundcards stereo line-in jack. The soundcards line-in and line-out must both have stereo plugs inserted into them that splits out the left and right signal. The easiest splitter would be the one below: .Now the SPL meter can use a single RCA cable to the right channel that the splitter makes available. The left channel isn't used. Hope you have read this. brucek

| Re: Need some handholding Quote: All is/was cool up until the meter connection. The photograph showed a rca connector at the meter (as you mention), but also stated it is a mono signal. The RS meter instructions vaguely states a 'phono type' jack so I got a bit confused Please bear with me as I'm a bit of a 'babe' at this. So I am using the direct rca connection at the meter? correct? (not a rca w/mono plug adapter) Thanks for your help. | |||||

The SPL meter has an RCA jack on it. Connect an RCA cable to it that has an RCA plug on its end. An RCA cable is the type you would usually call an RCA interconnect cable. Maybe a picture would help. Here's an SPL meter with its RCA jack and a cable with an RCA plug ready to connect to it. ![]() brucek
