| High Low frequencies I did my first measurement and set up of filters with my BFD. My crossover is set at 80 but I noticed that several of the filters are set in the 100s. If my crossover is set at 80 are these filters doing anything. I noticed that my worst peak was at 110 so I need to do something up there. I don't understand crossovers so is some of the higher frequency info going to the sub or do I need to run my main spekers through the BFD (which I don't want to do) Tbrooke | |||

| Re: High Low frequencies Quote:
The higher you go above the crossover with respect to BFD filters, the less effective they become in controlling the outcome (once the mains are turned on). This is why we first equalize with the sub only and try and get a response close to the target. Then when that's complete, we turn on the mains and do another response check and see the effect the combined sub plus mains have around the crossover. At this point you can adjust the subs phase control to get the best response. Then you can attempt some tweaking of those filters around and above the crossover to get an even better transition. But as you've figured out already. A filter at 100Hz will have far less effect on this final process as a filter at 80Hz will.... brucek | ||||
