Did I get my sub equalized right?

I'm sure there's a better way to display this, but this is the link to the graph. This graph includes the receiver, and the crossover is fixed at 100Hz. Sub is a Velodyne 18" Servo.

Looks good.

There are many people that prefer a bit of a boost (house curve) at the bottom end though.

It would look something like the red line shown below:

Re: Did I get my sub equalized right?

Thanks for the response brucek.

I've had a chance to review the on-site papers on the house curve, and it makes sense. When I get some quiet time, I'll go to work on it. Meantime, the sub sounds so much better than it ever has, it's unbelievable. I learned a lot from this site.

I've messed with the house curve. Comments and suggestions? Don't be too hard on me if I posted the graph wrong, it's my first attempt.

Thanks

Re: Did I get my sub equalized right?

It looks good. I might try a more gradual rise up to about 30Hz as shown and then level off. I'm assuming this is a response with sub + mains...

Re: Did I get my sub equalized right?

Following the suggestions above, I have arrived at the following. How does it look? It includes the mains, and my receiver crossover is fixed at 100Hz.

Me too. How does it sound? That’s what matters. You might want to check out this thread – Aeronaut’s experiments with various house curve configurations.

Re: Did I get my sub equalized right?

Thanks Brucek and Wayne.

I'm thinking it sounds good, but I've learned with Subs, one should not jump to conclusions without living with them for a little while. It seems that there is a major difference in the bass component of the various movie soundtrack mixes. Some are very natural, others are have more bass boost in them. I need to watch a few to reach a conclusion.

I've reviewed the thread Wayne linked to above, and find it interesting. I may, after living with this a few days, try moving in the direction presented in the thread.

Appreciate all the help.

Deane
