Crashing A Lot (Mac OS X)

I downloaded the latest Room EQ Wizard and tried running it on my Dual 2GHz G5 PowerMac. I'm running Mac OS 10.4.8 with the latest patches, and using J2SE 5.0. With this, I was getting Room EQ Wizard crashes about every 5 minutes. Almost impossible to use. Seemed to happen more often when I included sweeps and measurements <20Hz, but the crashes would not always happen while I was actually taking measurements. Also sometimes while playing with filters. And it happened at least once when I hadn't taken any measurements below 10Hz.

I looked at a bunch of the crash logs. They're all bus errors at PC=0x9c4fbe80. I've attached one of the logs. It kind of looks like a JVM error though. But seems it shouldn't be happening so often; there must be tons of Mac apps using this code in Java.

These are JVM crashes, unfortunately. I have taken the plunge however and bought a Mac Mini to see if I can find out what is upsetting Apple's JVM and work around it.
