Before Meas.

Fellas
I spent a better part of the day geting this set up and this is what I came up with. Something smells rotten in Demark. What is this graph telling me? Be kind
The sub is a SVS 20-39pc+ tuned to 20hz i.e. No port covers
Thank you
Matt

It ain't really as bad as you think.

Look at post #2 here and set the axis limits on your graph and upload it again. This will give us a better picture for comparison.

It probably wouldn't hurt to look at post #3 also.

Re: Before Meas.

Good grief I re-did all the REQ steeting and this is what I came up with this time.

REQ steeting
Not really sure what that means?

Anyway, the response looks like you have your mains turned on. It's easier to equalize with them off. You can turn them on after your filters are in place to see if they interact negatively with your sub or not (for some final tweaking).

You have a hump between 20Hz and 30Hz that the BFD will take care of easily.

Re: Before Meas.

Sorry Bruce Its suppose to spell setting.
Oddly enough the mains are off. I did however forget to turn back on the Comp. for C weighting.

Mmmm, what's your crossover. The sub seems to be extending out quite far.

C weight doesn't do anything except for the areas above and below where you don't have a meter calibration file.

Still, your response looks pretty good. Just filter out a few humps and you'll be gold.

Re: Before Meas.

My Pre Pro is the Outlaw 990. I am using the CD input set to stereo crossed at 80. Is this correct?
Id like to thank you and Sonnie for your help. I feel like a moron when it comes to this stuff.
PS I think I should have been wearing earplugs .

Yep.

Once you've got your filters set so it matches the target (don't get too crazy), then you can turn on your mains and see what it looks like - you may have to tweak a few filters then.

Re: Before Meas.

Bruce
Here is the pic after Optimise PK Gain & Q
The filters are
Frequency Gain Q HZ
26 -13.7 3.1 8.4
21 -8.3 8.4 2.5

I presume these are the filters to enter into the BFD (Cant wait) although I have read the BFD guide several times.
How big a problem are the Dips between 30-40 and the one starting at 60 going to be?
PS This keeps me awake at night!

Re: Before Meas.

Sorry I learning as I go
Another question can I add a filter at @33 to give it a small boost to bring it back to where it was before REQ lowered it?

Re: Before Meas.

Once you've taken your measurement and allowed REW to suggest filters, you are able to then enter your own filters manually into REW and observe their effect dynamically. You can also modify the suggested filters to better bring the response closer to the target. Once you've got the response the way you like it in REW, you can enter the filters into the BFD.

Manually key those filter values into the BFD and then take another measurement to see how well the filters worked. In a perfect world, the response you get after entering the filters would be the same as you observed in REW. It ain't always so.

The discrepency usually lies in the areas where you entered gains. Specifically if you have a dip that may not respond to gain being thrown at it. Some do, some don't. If you have a dip that doesn't respond to gain, then don't push it, you're wasting headroom.

So it's a bit of an iterative approach.

Re: Before Meas.

To input the filters into the BFD manually do I choose 1124p in the REQ EQ pulldown which shows the green fine values or leave it in TMREQ and use the conversion chart in the manual or BFD guide to input the values.

Matt

Bruce am I getting on your nerves yet?
Sonnie how much rain did you get?

Why are you using TMREQ in the pulldown if you have a BFD?

Re: Before Meas.

You can use the settings displayed in the fiter section of REW and manually load all those... no conversions are necessary.

It seems like we got about 5 inches of rain... I know someone else says we did according to his rain gauge. I know it poured.

Never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed.

I thought the BFD setting was for if you where going to
upload from the REQ to the BFD via midi. Now I know.

Sonnie ouch 5 inches.
