| Can't get any output using REW Please HELP!! You guys must get tired of troubleshooting a bad set-up!! I can not get any output when I try to set the Measurement Level in REW I'm trying to get the signal to my pre amp so I can get a measurement of my mains speaker bass response What is strange is that when I shut down the computer with everything set to do this, the system "shut down" wave is heard through the correct mains speaker I know I have something wrong, but can't figure out what it is ![]() I have chose "Speaker" for output. I have also left it at the default "choose output" I have no idea where to look next Thanks much Julien | |||

| Re: Can't get any output using REW Please HELP!! And when you get to the final step in the Set Measurement Level do you see the picture below with the VU meter showing green, and the Wave at 1.000 and Output at 0.500 and able to adjust the level to something like -12dB as shown? Yet there is no signal going to your receiver? Set Measurement level.jpg brucek | |||

If I shut down the computer I do hear the "System Shut-down" tones through the proper speaker ![]()

How about the Windows mixer when REW is running. Does the playback mixer look like this for Volume and Wave (unmuted and with the same Volume shown in REW)? In fact, raising and lowering the slider should reflect on the REW picture I showed before. Clicking the Mutes will reflect in REW too? mix.jpg brucek

| Re: Can't get any output using REW Please HELP!! I noticed on Julien's post that he has his signal set to sign wave. Shouldn't he set it for pink noise to test? I have had mine on accidently on sine and found you won't hear anything by hitting green arrow until you manually adjust signal with cursor or the blue line in graph area. To walk a mile takes a step at a time. Bryan | |||

| I should have read this thread before buying a Indigo IO card I can't get REW to work on my IBM Thinkpad with the Indigo card. The Indigo works fine with other applications. The symptoms are (I'm using REW 4.00 built 673) :
Is there a reason why REW fails with quality sound devices ?

| Re: Can't get any output using REW Please HELP!! REW accesses the soundcard via JavaSound, which in turn (on a Windows machine) uses the windows drivers. Many professional/semi-professional soundcards and audio applications bypass the Windows drivers and instead use ALSA drivers, which provide additional capabilities and lower latency - pro cards may not install Windows drivers by default, or may only include a minimal Windows driver with limited functionality. You may find WDM drivers for the card on the manufacturer's website and installing them may allow REW to properly access the card. | |||

| Re: Can't get any output using REW Please HELP!! Thanks John for the quick reply, it makes a lot of sense. I tried the internal sound card on the Thinkpad, going though the (well needed) "Calibrating the Soundcard " procedure. That went ok. But when trying an actual measurment I got the "data corrupted" message. I suppose the quality of the internal sound board is just not good enough ? | |||
