| REW: Edirol UA-1X feedback issues Hi all, First post...apologies if it's been covered already. I had a pretty good look around (both on the laptop and this forum)! Firstly, Thanks, John, for the software! And all on this forum for your obvious enthusiasm and patience. I've been chasing my tail with this sound card for a few days...here's some details... -I running REW with an IBM T42 Thinkpad (XP pro) + RS 33-4050 meter -card appears as "USB Audio CODEC" in Windows (no software input control) -has a hi/lo switch (+4/-10) on the input -I've recorded from various unbalanced sources and the "low" seems to be right for good level. I can't seem to get anywhere without feedback on "Low", and barely scrape by on "HI". I've gotten a good handle on the workings of REW...at least enough to get it up and running. I've been able to do small tests with a boombox. Again, thanks for any insight. Mike | |||

But does a IBM T42 Thinkpad have a line-input? Isn't it just an integrated soundcard that only has microphone in (which isn't suitable)? brucek | ||||

| Re: REW: Edirol UA-1X feedback issues If the UA-1X is like the UA-1A it may have an internal hard-wired monitor path with no software control which may rule it out for measurement applications. On ny UA-1A I had to remove a couple of surface mount resistors to disconnect the internal path, after spending some time tracing the pcb layout to figure out what was going on. | |||

| Re: REW: Edirol UA-1X feedback issues Thanks guys...I'm pretty confident there isn't a monitor control in s/ware for this unit (pity!) It seems to be the successor to the UA-1A, so this isn't surprising... I've a friend who wants something like this for recording only...looks like he's lucky! I'll try a different card...anyone know if the M-Audio Transit works? I believe the T42's in is mic... should I try it, or is that dangerous for the meter? Thanks again Mike | |||
