| Re: Problem right off the bat - please help I've just downloaded REW and would first off like to say thank you to the developers of this tool for mking it freely available. It looks like an impressive program. I ran it last week on my wifes PC, but had feedback loop problems with the Edirol UA3A interface I was using. So I got out my old Mac G4 powerbookand installed OS 10.4.8 and am back up and running. But I have run into an early problem callibrating the internal sound card. I get this : "Impulse peak is not where it should be, the measurement may have been corrupted. Check the Impulse Response and the Captured Data plots" and Sample rate: 44100Hz -3dB points: 999.3Hz, 1.002kHz Input device: No device selected Input: No input selected Channel: Left Input volume: no control Input RMS target: -5.0dB Actual RMS at 1kHz: -41.2dB Output device: No device selected Output: No output selected Sweep level: -5.0dB 20Hz .. 20kHz flatness: +12.2, -120.7dB 1kHz 2nd harmonic: 23.486% 1kHz 3rd harmonic: <0.001% I have tried both Default Input Device and Mac OS X,CoreAudio,Audio ha...to no avail, as well as both left and right channels. Anyone got any suggestions? Any help much appreciated. Cheers, Bevan | |||

| Re: Problem right off the bat - please help One other anomaly I found, after deciding to do a measurement without a properly calibrated sound card, is that running a 20hz to 200hz(or above) sweep seems to put out upper-mid frequency signals only i.e nowhere near lower bass. Very strange indeed. This is with the latest version of REW running on the Mac | |||

| Re: Problem right off the bat - please help Hi Bevan, The app is still very flaky on the Mac, Apple have their own class library for accessing audio interfaces and don't seem to spend any time on the cross-platform class library in Java. I've bought a Mac Mini to get the app running properly under OS X and I'm starting that work now, hopefully it will run more smoothly in a month or so. John | |||
