Problem writing House Curve files

Hello,

I am having a little trouble writing a few house curve files. I need to create three curve because I am going to equalize my mains speakers
and their "Sub Inputs" The Mains in will roll off below 50htz. The "Sub In" will roll off above 50htz

I would like the combined curve to start at 65htz and rise 6db to 30htz (as recommended by Bruce)

Can anyone help me with the text files. I will need one for the mains, one for the "Sub In", and still another with the curves combined

Every time I try to implement the files I have written it's a mess

Can some one point me in the right direction

Thanks
Julien

Re: Problem writing House Curve files

A house curve is applied to the target that is selected at the time.

You haven't really supplied enough information about the curves or the targets or the rolloff/dB.

I am a bit confused.

Maybe start by explaining the subwoofer house curve. Once that one is done, we can look at the next one..

Re: Problem writing House Curve files

Well Bruce, The "Sub In" starts with a 50 Htz signal The problem is that i want the boost to start at 65htz with an over all boost of 6db to 30 htz

I don't have a good handle on how to write the text files. They don't come out the way I want them to

I am not sure where that puts the boost at 50 htz

As far as the roll off goes. I need a starting point that is least likely to cause a boost or dip at the 50htz region
I know I'll have to adjust these when I apply them together.

I know what I want to see for the target but I don't know how to write the files to make it all come together

Thanks Bruce!

I want to make sure, when I combine the two curves, I have a smooth response

Again, I really don't get what you mean.

Usually, you specify a standard crossover that REW can draw such as a 50Hz @ 24dB/octave subwoofer crossover.

Then you add a modification to it in the form of a file.txt that you load with the Settings feature in REW.

I'm sure I'm wrong, but as an inital attempt at interpretting what you're talking about, I show a plot of a
50Hz @ 24dB/octave subwoofer crossover and then another plot laid on top (used photoshop) where I added a housecurve to the standard 50Hz - 24dB/octave subwoofer crossover in a file with two entries. The file entries are shown.

Again, you have to tell me what you want before I can do the job..

Re: Problem writing House Curve files

Thanks for your patience Bruce

I need to take three measurements
1)Everything below 50htz
2)Everything above 50htz and below 200htz. This will be a fullrange response. (no crossover rolloff)
3)A combination of the two above ranges

The first two measurements are for separate voice coils of the same driver. The third is to see how well they integrate.

I have written the target curve for the combined measurement.
15 -4.0
22 6.0
30 6.0
50 3.0
65 0.0

I'm not getting the same thing when I try to create House Curves for the first two measurements. They just don't match the combination

Re: Problem writing House Curve files

Well, I don't know if I have this right, but it's worth a try.

I think first it has to be accepted that if you use a standard 50Hz crossover high pass and standard 50Hz crossover low pass target from REW, that the resultant combined outout will be flat as seen as the red line in the plot below.

So if we simply lift the low pass target with the simple house curve as shown, I would say the resultant would be as shown in the upper dotted line. It looks close enough to give it a try anyway. It gives you something to work with anyway. I see no reason to reduce the curve at 15Hz. Let the bottom drop as it may.
