Did I do this right? Waterfall Graphs

Did I do this right? And I sort of know what I'm looking at, but maybe someone could tell me what this all means...

I opened up the .mdat files from my last testing session.
I set the time range to 400ms, window to 200ms.
dB range is 100 to 58dB - is this correct?
Sub plus mains.

Any other info/parameters I should post?
Should the time range be 400ms, or something else?

This is the original measurement, with no bass traps, waterfall.

This is with my bass traps and after eq'ing:

Re: did I do this right? waterfall graphs

You would get better frequency resolution by using a longer window, say 300ms window and a 500ms span. It looks as if you have a filter set at just over 50Hz whose bandwidth is too narrow, which is why you can see a reverberant tail at that frequency in the eq'd plot which is not present on the original measurement. The filter for the peak at around 75Hz also looks like it may not be ideally matched to the resonance, but it's pretty close. Try tweaking the filter settings and re-measuring to get a feel for the effect on the waterfall.

Thanks, John.

I thought something strange was going on around 50Hz. I'll definitely do what you suggest.

And is the dB span good? Going down to 60dB or so? Or should I go lower, or even higher?

When I look at mine, I keep the standard 45dB to 105db.........
