Two graphs, one normal and the other one corrected by the HK avr-635...what you think

Greetings!
Here are my two, hopefully correctly done, graphs. I tried to follow all the instructions and this is what I got.
The first graph, yellow, is not corrected by the Harman Kardon avr-635 built in ezsetup (Parametric EQ).
I am using a couple of the GIK 244 panels and both front corners have R-13 fiberglass stacked up to the ceiling.

The second graph was taken in exactly the same place, a minute after the first, but using the "corrections" done by the HK receiver.

BTW, they are MUCH MUCH worst before adding the GIK and R-13.

I am sure they still suck (dont really know how a good graph looks) but at least to my ears it sounds so much better. The bass is so much tighter and it seems I need less output from the built in sub of my Strata Minis (probably due to less bass cancelation). Also, the mids and highs are incredibly more clear than before.

BTW, I am not using a sub, this is all been done for my Strata Minis that are built in a 350W 8" woofer.

Without the HK adjustement, the bass seem to overpower the rest in many songs, it wasnt boomy but you can feel the air pressure and vibration thru the floor. My research seems to indicate that any big peak in the 40-70hz area could create this problem.
Thanks for any comments.

Regards

Please post all graphs with a vertical scale of 45dB to 105dB and a horizontal scale of 15Hz to 200Hz. It is a standard we used here to make sure everyone is comparing the same apples to apples...

I think you need a bit of EQ....

Hi Shaolin,

Amazing what those auto-correction programs can do, huh? I’m sure before you had that “one note” thing happening, and it always sounds better to get rid of a big peak like that. You might look into getting a subwoofer, so you can hear everything under 40 Hz that you’ve been missing!

Regards,
Wayne

I think you meant under 30hz.... this is for music only, for HT I will be using a sub of course. :-)
I will repost the graphs today, thanks!
Regards

PS I am running the powered sub built into the main speakers at low volume due to the bad peak BUT maybe I should increase the volume so that other frequencies other than the bad peak are closer to 75db and then let the HK eq take care of the peak...what do you think?
