Just ordered a bunch of stuff, anything else i need?

I just finished what i believe is everything i need to use REW and a BFD.

CM-140 $95 (Group buy here)
Refurb SB live external $30 (Ebay)
2 x mni to rca (to hook up spl meter and to receiver)
1/4" to RCA cables (to hook up bfd and sub)
USB midi interface from sweetwater $30
BFD 1124 from zzsounds. $100
Firmware V1.4 for BFD $10

I believe i have everything to measure my HT and do Sub calibrations.

Is there anything else I need?

I have the BFD Guide in hand for reading. any other quick dirty tutorial for the BFD?

I also noticed that in the guide it mentioned to set the delay for the sub for 1ft. I don't believe my Panny Xr55 has a setting for delay for the sub. Is this going to be a problem?

Thanks!

Hi there winggee,

It's not going to be that big of a deal. It just allows the mains and sub to integrate, delay-wise, correctly. I have played around with my delays on my sub to large degrees and found very little measured difference when using REW.

I'm not familiar with your receiver, but I bet there's some type of delay in there for sub.

The 3.5mm mini connector end must be stereo with one channel to the RCA.......
RCA splitter would be nice to hook up left and right channel of receiver for the times you want the mains turned on.

The mini to rca cables I have are stereo mini to stereo rca's. Is this what you are referring to or do you mean that I need a stereo mini from the soundcard out to rca splitter splitting off one of the channels? If that's the case, why wouldn't stereo rca's work?

Thanks!

That's fine. Some people attempt to incorrectly use a mono 3.5mm plug....

Re: Just ordered a bunch of stuff, anything else i need?

Got my BFD in yesterday and swapped out the chip for 1.4. Man I fired up REW last night to test the soundblaster and RS meter. did some sweeps seems to be working correctly. Then i realized the version of REW I had was back from last May. I installed the new version was hit with a surprise that the GUI changed soo much. I didn't spend my time messing with the new version yet. just installed it. at first glance it looks alittle easier to use, maybe because all the crazy features, meters are hidden in the tabs instead. it's not all your face kinda thing. I like it so far. Once i get my 1/4 to rca's in I'll start digging into the new version.
