| I have a Dell 9300 laptop with the Stac9750 internal sound card and after reading the REW forum it appears that this chip is not recommended as an input port even after shutting off the microphone boost. I looked at many posts recommending the Sound Blaster Live 24 or the M-audio MobilePre-USB. I went to both manufactures web sites and found that neither device is supported if you are using Windows XP Media Center edition due to known driver incompatibilities. Are all users running XP pro or XP home edition and not Media Center or will these usb devices actually work with Media Center despite the vendor’s lack of support? | ||||

| Re: A newbie with a sound card/os question. I think others are using Media Center. I wouldn't even load the vendors software. I'm sure Windows would support these devices on its own through USB... For REW you don't want or require all the wacky stuff the cards can do. You just want a card to support stereo with line-in and line-out..... brucek | ||||
