computer recommendation for REW

How much computer do you need to run REW?

I'd like to do this once and not buy too little or too much. Any recommendations?

If you have a specific computer model number, I'd be interested in that too.

I don't think you need much. Getting past the initial setup with the soundcard seems to be the biggest trouble.

IIRC, I'm using a Dell E520 and have never had a problem. I've used a SoundBlaster Live! soundcard with MIDI out, as well as a C-Media cheapy soundcard. Both work fine.

In checking with ebay, Dell E520s bring up a bunch of desktop computers with 2.8ghz dual core processors. This doesn't sound like your laptop, unless the E520 only refers to the processor.

I went back and checked my "profile" (forgot about that when initially responding). It's an E510, and it's a desktop. 2.8 GHz sounds about right, but I'm not sure if it's got a dual core processor.

Here's a link to Dell. I've had it about a year and a half, so I don't quite recall what upgrades I did. It's pretty straight, though, and works for movies, music, REW, etc.

You can get away with just about any computer. I run REW on my K6-350Mhz relic. The biggest problem is waiting the 5 minutes it takes XP to boot up.
