Powerbook Firewire Soundcard Calibration

Dear forum !

I recently got REWV5.0 to make a measurement in a studio. I was happy to find an acoustics software that works for Mac! I have a G4 Powerbook with Tiger 10.4.11. I would like to calibrate my soundcard, but it does not work. I connected it right, there is no feedback. I got signal coming through, i listend to it, its a clear tone. The levels shown are good, although its a kind of high peak, compared to the RMS level (peak is not higher then -1dB, my soundcard inputs are not peaking too, but the output level is very high). I use a firewire RME400 (german).

I dont get a clear graph, its a strange graph, but i am not very experienced reading graphs.

What could be wrong ? What the solution ?
I sort of dont think i can responsibly make a measurement without calibrating first.

Is it a problem of system incompatiblility ?

I thank you very much for your quick responses, SPL graph is added, if you need more information, please ask.

Re: Powerbook Firewire Soundcard Calibration

I guess I found the answer in another post.

There was said he got the message
"Impulse peak is not where it should be, the measurement may have been corrupted.
Check the impulse Response & the Captured Data plot on the scope graph."
which i got also.

The answer to this was that Apples Java has a bug with multichannel soundcards (as mine).

Re: Powerbook Firewire Soundcard Calibration

Yes, unfortunately, multichannel and firewire are problematic for Apples JRE. If the Powerbook has on-board audio line in and line/headphone out you can get perfectly good results using those, otherwise a basic 2-channel USB soundcard would also do the job.
