No subwoofer signal output when using REW

Hi guys, need help in resolving the issue of no subwoofer output with my setup of calibrated ECM8000 mic with M-Audio Pre USB (2nd Generation) soundcard on windows 7. The calibration process went without issues and I can actually hear test tones from my mains except the subwoofer. Connection from the soundcard output is 6.3mm TRS to stereo RCA jacks to my onkyo 5008 receiver AUX input. Tested it out on my bedroom yamaha RX-V1800 receiver with the same issue. Any ideas what I can do other than connecting it directly to the subwoofer which would defeat the receiver crossover setting?

The only 6.3mm TRS ( stereo ) jack on that unit ( that offers L&R output ) , is the headphone output .

Is that where your cabling is plugged into ?

Hi EarlK, the 6.3mm TRS jack is plugged into the line output 1 at the back of the soundcard and not the headphone jack.

That's not a stereo output jack . It's a balanced ( mono ) output .

Buy the correct cabling ( two, separate TRS to RCA mono cables) and those problems should be resolved .

Re: No subwoofer signal output when using REW

The REW cable connection guide shows a mono line out to the receiver for the USB soundcard. Isn't that similar to my case? How is it that I need to two mono cables whereas that connection doesn't?

Re: No subwoofer signal output when using REW

> My suggestion allows you ( using REW in WDM / Java driver mode ) to send output through both outputs of the soundcard , to your left / right receiver channels . But you are right / one really only needs a single cable to get going .

> You could just use a single channel of output from your soundcard ( TRS/TS to RCA ) and then split that mono RCA to 2 more ( mono ) RCAs ( if you want to drive both receiver channels at the same time ) .

> The choice is yours ( they'll both work and give you two channels of playback , though typically you should start by testing one box at a time, adding in the sub to check the blend & then other channels later ).

Re: No subwoofer signal output when using REW

I do get 2 channel playback signal on my mains with the current mono signal to the left and right aux input from the mono line-out connection. The only issue is the subwoofer is not outputting anything? I physically checked if there is any movement using my hands and ears close up and nothing.

Re: No subwoofer signal output when using REW

You're sub-woofer will continue to output what it's fed by your AVR / which right now is a mono synthesized bass signal that's derived from both L&R channels which currently ( most likely ) have opposite polarities ( phase to the noobs ! ) .

Add ( 180 with -180 ) and one gets nothing, nada, zippo .

Get the correct cables ( or unplug one of those inputs / just turn your levels down first ).
