| Another "Need help with soundcard" situation. I've searched and read many threads and I've come to the conclusion my problem sounds like it is an internal loopback problem. When I try to cal the soundcard I get an input signal even with nothing plugged into the soundcard jacks. When I try to run a measurement I get a mirror image of (I believe) the sound card cal file. When I try to use the RS meter as a microphone it produces no sound via the computer.line-in, but plugged into an AUX input on the stereo it does work as a microphone. The sound system is onboard sound using Realtek ACL883 chipset. I have spent hours combing the settings of REQW and Windows (XP) and the Realtek features/settings and have come up lacking a solution. I did find a "stereo mix' setting, but I have tried that selected and de-selected and it seems to make no difference. I have changed the settings, rebooted, and tried again and again to no avail. Any suggestions as to what I'm missing? I know it's gotta be something simple. As a side note, I have used REQW before on a different computer and sound card that I no longer have. So, it's not like I'm a total noob on this, and that's probably what's frustrating me the most... | ||||

| Re: Another "Need help with soundcard" situation. Hi there whoaru99, I was looking around on the web for your problem but didn't come up with much. Do you have the latest drivers? That seemed to take care of some people problems (different problems, though). -- Otto | ||||

| Re: Another "Need help with soundcard" situation. Well, guess what? Seems to be working now. I checked the driver revision for the ALC883 chipset and mine was two revs old. So, I downloaded the most current rev, uninstalled the old ones and installed the newest. Fired up REQW, cleared all settings and started from scratch (which I had previously done NUMEROUS times). I didn't change any other settings except selecting the sound card and appropriate inputs from the pull-down lists in the soundcard cal screen. Went though the soundcard cal ensuring the input signal was from my loopback connection. Went through the SPL cal, again ensuring that the input was from the RS meter and that went fine. So, ran a sweep and got about what I was expecting the first time through. Don't know for sure if it was the driver itself, or the uninstall/reinstall process that reset something. Thanks for your concern and suggestions. As the old adage goes "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and it seems it ain't broke any more. ![]() | ||||

| Re: Another "Need help with soundcard" situation. brucek, The settings that seem to be working are not all like yours in the Windows mixer controls. The 883 has so many output settings that I had to break the output mixer panel into two pictures - and it still didn't show the CD settings (muted) at the far right of the second output mixer picture. Also included is the first sweep, but this is of a main speaker, full range, and no RS cal file loaded. Last edited by whoaru99; 06-08-07 at 02:21 PM.. | ||||

| Re: Another "Need help with soundcard" situation. OK good, a couple of problems. Make sure the RealTek software has 2 channel selected and not any 5.1 or 7.1 etc. I would also let REW control the volumes. Click the boxes shown below and let REW run the show. ![]() That's a start anyway..... brucek | ||||

| Re: Another "Need help with soundcard" situation. Yeah, I'd Mute the Mic and CD also............ I trust you're using (mono to stereo 1/8" adapters) at the line-in and line-out jacks of the soundcard... brucek | ||||
