help with using REW

Hi,

I have installed REW and read through the help files,
I have no SPL meter, can I do it without?
When I try to calibrate I get the following message;
Please select the audio input for the SPL meter.
Can anyone help?

Thanks

You definitely need an SPL meter for measuring room response.... They're not too expensive...

To calibrate the soundcard you must first connect a cable from line-out to line-in and select the correct channel (i.e. right) and also select the correct Soundcard device and input output you're using. Select these on the Settings screen under the Soundcard tab. See the pic below..

Thanks for your response,
I'll try to find an spl meter.
As for selecting the correct soundcard device input/output,
my card doesn't appear in the list, only the default input is possible, I think the app. doesn't see my card..

Have you selected the soundcard to be your default device for sound playback and recording in Windows? Check this in the Audio tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices properties in the Control panel....

Are you perhaps running another application that uses the audio input output, and has exclusive control over the soundcard?
