computer noise

I am going to move my desktop computer into the room where the measurements are to be taken and it is fairly noisy (fans), will this interfere greatly with the EQ measurement and would you suggest moving it and using long cables to connect it.

I have however a laptop using" vista os " which has a separate line in but from what I`ve read the EQ program does not run very well with vista,is that true.

The fans shouldn't be a problem. Use the multiple sweeps feature when measuring. It reduces noise and interference.
