Some tips for good measuring

The last couple of days I have been real busy with REW.
I discovered some simple things that can improve the results of your measurements.

- Disable as much services as possible. I use this website for good guides for tweaking my system:
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/supertweaks.htm
Your system doesn't have to swap between a lot of processes and resources anymore.

- Disable as much devices as possible in your hardware device manager. If you have a wireless network card, disable it before you start measuring. Same goes for other audio devices.

- If you use a laptop, use a full battery and disconnect your power cable before you start the measuring.

OK, I have to ask, why? Unless you have an under powered system where the system services are interfering with REW measurements I don't see the need to turn off devices. Did you observe some odd behavior with these services/devices enabled?

I use a dedicated system for full range speaker measurements and I have noticed that there was more rumble in the results when I didn't tweak the system.

Not sure what you mean by "rumble" but I will definitely check it out this week when no one is home.
